So it makes sense to avoid sex until all those complications are completely minimised.

Yes, I am a Christian, and yes, this is a very Christian idea. However, my suggestion is that you should do this purely for yourself. Not for the sake of the patriarchy, not for the sake of trying to prove your worth to anyone, but, combined with all the other ideas on my blog, to give yourself peace of mind.
